According to Fragrantica.com, Erykah Badu has agreed to be the face for Tom Ford’s new fragrance for ladies, White Patchouli which is slated to arrive in stores this September. White Patchouli which includes jasmine, rose and white flowers will be available in white glass bottles with three options for sizes. The perfume will also be available as a body lotion.
The concept for the campaign including the television commercials and print ads were done in black and white. I must say Erykah Badu looks simply amazing in the ads and I am glad to see the world of high fashion embracing this musical goddess.
Let MMIM know what you think about the ad above.

With lyrics such as “Many nights he was alone/Many, many, many nights/His light was so bright that they turned away/And he stood alone/Every night and every day….I’m an Orange Moon/I’m brighter than before…
Erykah is known for these types of lyrics (hidden meanings.) MMIM would like to know what do you think Erykah Badu is referring to in her song “Orangemoon?”

The Glastonbury Festival is one of the biggest concerts in the world and it mainly features rock bands as performers. This year, Jay-Z was the first hip hop artist to headline the festival. Since this was announced, Jay had drawn criticism from fans and performers. Oasis’ guitarist Noel Gallagher argued the booking of Jay-Z to headline the festival was “wrong.” And he also stated that “I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury.”
Despite the critics, Jay really showed his versatility on this performance. Who knew he could play the electric guitar? You can check out the youtube video below.

New music from Common off the Invincible Summer album. The song is called “Announcement” and it was produced by Pharell (the song also features him.) This track has that summer party feel to it. We posted earlier this week that Common’s new album “will definitely have a new sound”. Common said that he got his inspiration from being in the clubs and he wanted to make music that people can dance to as well.
Let us know how you feel about this track.

With so many artists recording their own version of the Lil’ Wayne track “A Milli”, these two R & B crooners caught my ear. It may be because they are both singing and spitting on one track but MMIM would like to know…”Who did it Best” between the two?

At ASCAP’s 21st annual Radio and Soul Music Awards, Timbaland received the Songwriter of the Year Award. The award was for his songwriting skills on “Ice Box” by Omarion, “Until The End of Time” and “My Love” by Justin Timberlake, and “Make Me Better” by Fabolous and Ne-Yo.
He also won songwriter of the year earlier this year at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards.
Congrats on this great accomplishment Tim.

Remember you heard this comment first on MMIM – “Noel Gourdin is going to be big.” We featured him earlier this month as Music’s Best Kept Secret (you can view the post under Artist Spotlights) and now it’s time for everyone to know who he is. The video is for his single “The River.”

I just could not help to notice all of the “no-shows” at the BET awards last night. Hmmm, let’s see…Missy, The Dream, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige…I know I am missing a few more, but these are the ones that come to mind first. I wrote something a few months back in regards to “our” people not showing up to “our” award shows when there was word that the Soul Train Music Awards were cancelled, and it seems that there has not been any change.
Now I do understand that a lot of our favorite celebrities have their hands in other projects like movies or clothing lines, but they seem to be in attendance at other shows like the Grammy’s or the American Music Awards.
Were there any other celebrities that you noticed that did not show? How do you feel about your favorite A-list celebrity not showing up to receive their award(s) or how do you feel about them not being in attendance at all?
