Common is the reason why Kanye West has a career..he came out in 1992 and held Chi Town like a anchor…lyrically the one cats who could see him on that list were Lupe and 3 Stacks…his catalog is deeper than all three of them guys put together….from “Can I Borrow A Dollar” to Ressurection, Someday It will all Make Sense, Water for Chocolate, Be, and Finding Forever…even electric Circus, he shows versatility, intelligence, and just plain dopeness..who else could have wrote “I Used to Love H.E.R.” and then crush Ice Cube with a diss record with a Raphael Saddiq sample….Lupe and Kanye all benefited from this man repping Chi Town hard by himself…underground, mainstream, and even spitting on a Rap Commercial….personally I feel that he can hold his own with legends like Jay-Z and Nas…both of them have even said they have respect for his lyricism.
