cool, I knew it was about letting someone go…kind of like a wounded bird that you nursed back to health that belongs in the wild…you have to release it…maybe build a bird feeder in the backyard and watch it return….Maxwell is so smooth with his music in a industry filled with so much empty macho boasting…he came sincere on that joint..very poetic.

i am pretty wings.
the right love @ the wrong time. I feel like this situation is very daunting and difficult to understand. hate, rejection, lust, love all create this feeling of defeat and loneliness. “its not you, its me” rings as I listen to this song, and I cannot help but ask why cant things be different. To each their own, and every situation has a different story, the underlying message is “I care, I love, I cherish, but I cannot right now”. There is no way to control this response, or make it better…. Holding on to this unbelievable romance will only lead to feelings of resentment and anger. pretty wings will lead you to another love, but you must let go and try and understand. Is there hope for this past love…..unsure, but realize that to make new life, you sometimes must get rid of the old.

well said amanda, many ppl find themselves in this difficult place of letting go of the past even though they still love it, many time this is because they begin to only love the person and no longer be “in love” with the person. i LOVE this sound, maxwell is someone music truly needs.

Pretty Wings to me takes on a different meaning. I agree on the letting go when things are not right protion. However, in my instant my husband was killed in a tragic trucking accident..he did not cheat on me nor I on him.. he simply left ‘us’. His family. He was young and because of his line of work he was on the road(trucking). We didn’t get to see him for several days prior. It’s like he just left..no residual feelings..maybe someone will meet ‘us’. God had another plan for him and well he had to leave. Anyway..this is how the song speaks to me…

Pretty Wings to me is the epitome of love. The old addage goes “if you LOVE someone you must let them go, if they come back to you then it’s meant to be, but if not then it wasn’t meant for you”. Maxwell has always been the bomb, or hott or what ever the terminology is these days for a great artist. Listen to his past songs, he’s the real deal!!

This song hit when my new relationship was hitting the rocks, so to speak. He was, and still is, the epitome of what I looked for in a man since childhood. And, I discovered lies; like I lied also…but we stopped loving each other and became enemies, almost. It is like we were loving each other the best way we could, but our hearts were so burdened with pain and hurt from one another’s actions. And, I always knew this song had a very powerful meaning, but I was unsure of what exactly. And, today, I understand what it means, because I have come to a point where I let go. I acknowledge we both did the same exact wrongs, but for different reasons; so we had to let each other go…and my heart breaks in two as I type these words because I feel like I found my soulmate…but it is over…gosh, this hurts…i guess we r all in this together..ooh the greatness of Love, lol.

I’ve always loved Maxwell’s music. Because he still speaks to the hearts of people. Not just another artist seeking fame or fortune. Whenever I start to miss my significant other, I put on a Maxwell album, and boy, does the jones hit me like a Mack truck. It’s almost as if Maxwell describes all the stages of the experience of Love and relationships. From the beginning when you are overcome with desire and passion, when you make love to someone that means something special to you, to when you experience difficulty, heartbreak, weakness when cheating, and the aftermath. Listening to his music is like taking a roller coaster ride through the deepest of my heart’s emotions. This whole Love thing is so commanding of our energy, it’s so powerful, and this music, this great music, is such a beautiful culmination of all those things. Maxwell has truly contributed to the world something priceless.

First of all I would like to say I love this song. Once I learned the words it really was the bomb. My thoughts to what this song meant was about relationships. It doesn’t matter what kind lovers or best friends. Sometimes you want something sooo bad that you do whatever it takes. I was in love with my other half and we were engaged to be married. However it just wasnt the right timing and things wasn’t working out. He didn’t want to do anything and later he refused to answer the phone. He also said some things that I don’t think I could ever forgive him for. I didn’t want to let go because I was in love with him, however his plans were different and we ended up breaking off the engagement. When I started ignoring him and paying him no attention then he tried to come back. But it was to late I had to let him go it was hard and very painful. But better earlier that later in the relationship.

This song is magical in how it tortures yet soothes the soul! Maxwell is a gift. Pretty wings, is about relationships yes, but I think an affair to be more specific and he had to let her go as he could not keep her on the side anylonger. He loved her enough to let her go and find a better love elsewhere. Soring, raw, tender, as I said, torture yet soothing.

To me, this song speaks of the beautiful, delicate & fragile uniqueness of my own woman. She has the “Pretty Wings” that brother Maxwell spoke of. This masterpiece of a song touches me at my core and reminds me of why I fell in Love with my special lady. She’s gone now, but one day or in some lifetime future; she will use her ‘Pretty Wings’ to return to me?
This song gives me that inspiration to hope.

I love everything this song represents..how he agrees to let go of his love bt still says he’ll always love her,…this song is such a masterpiece that breaks and builds me simultaneously.I love the part “I will not see what I cannot have forever”..he seems to say he can’t have her near,if he cannot have her for himself…it’s a wonderful, selfless, love story
