I wasn’t sure if this should have been an “Original vs. Remake” seeing that Framing Hanley is a different genre than the original. But they had the opportunity to cover Lil’ Wayne’s Lollipop and even though I am so sick of this song, I can listen to Framing Hanley’s version over and over. Let us know what you think. The video is kinda long so the song starts at the 2:18 mark. Enjoy!

Mary J. Blige’s songs have become the type of songs that are not easy to do, but Keyshia Cole decided to try it. Let me set one thing straight, the purpose of “Original vs. Remake” is to get your opinion on the remake. We know in some cases (like this one) all remakes will not compare to the original, but we basically want to know, do you think the remake can stand up to the original? How do you think the artist did?
“I Love You” was a hit off of Mary J Blige’s classic album, “My Life”. Keyshia’s cover will be a track from her third album “A Different Me”, which will be released on December 16th.
The remake was not a good one at all. I don’t like the “switch up” of the beat and I don’t like Lil’ Wayne on the song. It sounds like as if the track was remixed by Cash Money. I’m not feeling the autotune at the end, and it sounds like Wayne has 80% of the song and Keyshia is only singing 20%. Keyshia tries but it just makes me want to ask her, “why?”

This week its Beyonce’s vs. Shanice. Remember Shanice from back in the day? I know everyone was singing “I love your smile.” Anyways, Shanice covered Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy”, I think she did a great job; she has a beautiful and powerful voice. But the original gets my vote on this one. Take a listen below, and let us know what you think.

This week for original vs. remake we have Jazmine Sullivan’s “I’m in love with another man”. If you had a chance to catch our interview with Jazmine Sullivan, we asked her what she thought about Brandon Hines’s version of the song. She didn’t get a catch to see it, but what do you think she would have thought about it? I must admit that Brandon does a great job, but I will have to go with the original on this one.

Okay so if anyone knows me, you know that I am a BIG fan of Anthony David. “Something About You” is a song off his previous album “The Red Clay Chronicles” and more recently “Acey Deucy.” Anthony remakes the song done by group Level 42. Who gets your vote on this one?

This week’s Original vs. Remake is “Ex-Factor”, which we all know is by the multi-talented Lauryn Hill. Syleena Johnson took a chance and redid it but in my opinion, she didn’t make the song her “own”. The tone in her voice already sounds like Lauryn…well just a little, and when you remake a song, it shouldn’t sound just like the original. You guys decide and let us know what you think.
