Filming for my favorite song on the BP3 “Empire State of Mind” began yesterday in what other place than New York. Here is two pics (courtesy of Rap Radar) from the shoot.
Check out this footage from Maxwell’s concert in NYC last night. Maxwell will be in DC on Friday and judging by this footage it looks like he is going to put on a great show! Shout out to The Life Files for capturing this.
Two nights ago, Diesel Only The Brave celebrated their newest fragrance launch with an intimate live performance by the face of the fragrance, Common (who is currently filming “Just Wright” with Queen Latifah in NYC). Check out some footage from the event and let MMIM know what you think.
So it looks like Complex magazine has double covers for their August/September issue. Yesterday we posted the cover with Kid Cudi and now today Complex has released Keri’s cover. And if you thought Kid Cudi’s cover was dope…Keri’s is 10 times hotter! I love it!
Check out the behind the scenes video from her shoot.

Words cannot begin to fully express the love I’ve had and still have for this talented being, Michael Joseph Jackson. I can literally say that I’ve grown up with this man in my life in some shape or form. I remember tagging along with my father as he visit his friends and I use to whisper in his ear to make sure he tells all of his friends that I LOVE Michael Jackson. LOL. It was his music along with his sister Janet I would listen to as far back as I can recall before I started my personal evolution in music. He has inspired me immensely and I give him all of my credit to learn voice control, creativity, as well as entertainment for He was the one and true entertainer of all time. I must say that it is a blessing that I can be here to say that Michael Jackson was a major part of my era in life and music and will never be forgotten.
To all of our MMIM readers, please check out one of my personal favorites he performed on HBO back in the day, I definitely remember sitting in the living room watching this with excitement. This is a video of him doing a live performance of “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” featuring Ms. Siedah Garret. Even though famous R&B singers such as Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston turned down the offer to sing this duet with Michael, I feel the song came together just as beautiful with Siedah. I love you and truly miss you Michael, may you rest in eternal peace.
Today we lost one of the greatest of our time. Not only was Michael Jackson a musical icon but he was the greatest to EVER do it. His music was heavily influenced all across the world and across many genres. Not one entertainer today can name their influences without mentioning Michael Jackson. He exemplified greatness. Artists today sample his music, recreate his moves and styles, but they could never do it quite like Mike. Ever since Michael was young, he won the hearts of many fans around the world. I remember seeing videos and pictures of fans fainting at the sight of Michael Jackson. He had an amazing effect on people.
Even in preparation for his upcoming shows, Michael’s “comeback” tour sold-out within hours. Five of his solo albums are some of the top-selling albums of all time – “Off the Wall,” 1982′s “Thriller,” “Bad,” “Dangerous” and “HISstory. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice and has won 13 Grammys. Altogether, Michael has sold over 750 million records worldwide. Not only did people love his music, but they fell in love with Michael. He was more than just an artist. He is a legend, that will never be forgotten. His music is timeless. A artist like Michael will never come again, his voice enriched the sound of music and his videos made us appreciate the art he formed. Even though Michael is physically gone, he remains on earth in spirit and through his music.
Here are a few tweets from the Twitter world about the passing of Michael Jackson.

Last Tuesday, May 12, 2009, yours truly was invited to an evening of Poetry, Music, and Spoken word held at the White House in the East Room. First lady Michelle Obama opened the event saying that “the White House is a place where people should feel free to speak their minds”. With Music and spoken word being such a powerful tool of expression, what better form of free speech? President Barack Obama and Michelle welcomed actors, poets and writers from all over the world, such as Spike Lee and Tatiana Ali. This premier event embodied grace and the arts of all different types. The evening featured James Earl Jones, Esperanza Spalding and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The night also included musical interludes, modern poetry and excerpts from Shakespeare. This is the first event of its kind and I must say it was truly impressive. President Obama is changing the face of the White House and the Democratic Party day by day.
