I loved this song from the first time I heard it and the video is even more enjoyable. This is Cee-Lo’s Green’s first single from his solo project (no, Gnarls Barkley have NOT broken up), The Lady Killer. Enjoy!

This is the news that I have been waiting on. According to AllHipHop.com, Cee-Lo from Goodie Mob and more recently, Gnarls Barkley is gearing up to release a solo album this year. The album will be titled, “Lady Killer” and the first single, “Georgia” will be debuting on May 11th.
Even though, I love anything Cee-Lo Green does, I was more hoping for a Gnarls Barkley album. Their chemistry has brought two GREAT projects. Let’s hope there is some production work from Danger Mouse. Let us know what you think.

“It’s probably plain to see, that I got a whole lot of pain in me. And it will always remain in me. So cold, it’s a cryin shame, yet here I am, trying again because I refuse to die in vain. The circumstances put soul in me and there ain’t no holding me. I’ve got a heart made of gold in me. Can you believe this is where I’ve been? And when adversity comes again, I’ll deal with it then.”
~Gnarls Barkley “A Little Better”
Gnarls Barkley is a grammy award winning musical collaboration between hit producer Danger Mouse from New York, and rapper/ vocalist Cee-Lo Green from Atlanta. This week let’s analyze the lyrics of Gnarls Barkley with their single “Blind Mary” which is off of their sophomore album “The Odd Couple.” I am a fan of their music and love this particular song. I feel Cee-Lo could be referring to weed. I mean how clever would it be to name a song about weed “Blind Mary?” Think about it, Gnarls Barkley’s music is a bit psychosocial…once you get it, the songs magically make sense. We as modern day people are more concerned with how we appear rather than who we are…so without eyes, Mary cannot judge that. But all in all, we know they could be talking about something completely different. MMIM invites you to give your synopses on these lyrics.

I love, Mary! (I love Mary)
Blind Mary, marry me (marry me)
I love, Mary! (la lah lah)
She has never seen the sunshine (sunshine)
Yet she’s getting along just fine (fine)
She’s not staying, she’s just passing through (through-ooh-ooeooh-ooh)
Hey, do you mind if I follow you?
I love, Mary! (I love Mary)
Blind Mary, marry me (marry me)
I love, Mary! (la la lah)
I heard a voice say catch me if you can
Before you know it I was holding her hand
It’s harder to imagine than understand
How she knows exactly who I am
She’s my friend, she doesn’t judge me
She has no idea I’m ugly
So I’ve absolutely nothing to hide
Because I’m so much prettier inside
