Last night, BET and Centric aired the 2010 Soul Train Music Awards. Despite what everyone says, I do not think it was a bad event. If you could take away the corny skits between Terrance Howard and Taraji P. Henson, the show was quite enjoyable.
R. Kelly opened the show (if you know me, you already know how much I dislike R. Kelly) – but last night, he won me over. He started off with some of his hits from the 90′s and then performed his current single, “When A Woman Loves.”
The tributes to music legends Anita Baker and Ronald Isley were well done. The artists chosen to perform the songs were diverse and beyond talented. Other performers include Erykah Badu, Ne-Yo, Cee-Lo and Jazmine Sullivan.
My only critique about the show is that there were not a lot of awards of given out. I think I only remember seeing three awards announced (other than the tributes). If only Terrance and Taraji skits were cut to see more of the show…

Okay I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have been wondering where Kem has been. When this man first came on to the scene with his album entitled Kemistry and released songs like When Love Calls and I Can’t Stop Loving You I knew he would be a diamond in the rough.
His voice is so unique and his lyrics are meaningful. He has a wonderful way of describing the joys and perils of love in each of his songs where you put together the story he is telling in your head and relate his words to your own personal experiences.
Kem plans to grant us with another album some time next year and the project is entitled Intimacy. I am personally looking forward to Kem’s return, as it has been long overdue.
Let MMIM know if you are anticipating the Kem album and check out one of Kem’s classic songs below.
