On June 23 in black music history…

In 1962, Ray Charles started a 14-week run at No.1 on the US album chart with ‘Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music’.

In 1975, Bob Marley and The Wailers played the first of 14 shows over 7 nights at Paul’s Mall in Boston, Massachusetts, as part of their Natty Dread Tour.

In 2002, Nelly started a seven week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Hot In Here.’

Big Tigger’s 8th Annual Celebrity Classic

Big Tigger’s 8th Annual Celebrity Classic weekend will be taking place June 5th-6th to raise awareness for HIV/Aids. For those of you that will be in the DC area this is an event that you do not want to miss. Special guests include J.Holiday, Nelly, Trey Songz, Mims, Clinton Portis, and Jackie Long.

Okay, so we know that almost everyone had a chance to catch the BET awards last night. Overall, it was a pretty good show (despite the fact that there were a lot of “no-shows”), but some of the performances were the highlights of the night. Hip Hop Honors Coverage

For those of you that don’t know the VH-1 Hip Hop Honors took place last week and I along with a couple of my friends had the pleasure of watching the show live. It was an amazing experience and I can honestly say that each honoree tribute was great! From performances by TI, Jermaine Dupri, Nelly, Ciara and a variety of other artists, this year’s show will be sure to not disappoint.

I don’t want to give away everything before the show premieres and spoil it for everyone. However, we would like to have a discussion about the show after it airs to hear the opinions of everyone. The Hip Hop Honors will air on VH-1 on October 8, 2007 @ 10pm.
