Q-Tip’s sophomore solo album, “The Renaissance,” will finally hit stores Oct. 14.
The album will tentatively open with “Shaka,” a song which will feature an excerpt of one of presidential candidate Barack Obama’s campaign speeches. It still isn’t official that the track will be featured on the album since it hasn’t been cleared yet.
Q-Tip gave some insight on why he chose to start the Album with one of Obama’s speeches.
“I start the album off with the Obama speech not just because I’m African-American, but because I really feel like he’s a fresh new voice and alternative from what we’ve seen in the political scene in some time, I see similarities in his way of thinking and my way. I really like him a lot.”
