New Music: Lloyd ft R. Kelly & Young Jeezy “Lay It Down (Remix)”

Lloyd recruits Jeezy and R. Kelly for the remix of his new single “Lay It Down.” This song has yet to grow on me, I still can’t get used to Lloyd vocals. I will admit, Kellz and Jeezy both add a nice touch to the track.

R. Kelly Love Letter Album Documentary

I will admit after watching this documentary behind the inspiration of R.Kelly’s album Love Letter, which comes out today I am truly excited about listening to this project. It sounds like Kellz is taking back to old school R&B, which I think we all could use a a dose of in this day and age. Check out his documentary below where he explains what you can expect to hear from him on this body of work.

Videos: Performances from 2010 Soul Train Music Awards

Last night, BET and Centric aired the 2010 Soul Train Music Awards. Despite what everyone says, I do not think it was a bad event. If you could take away the corny skits between Terrance Howard and Taraji P. Henson, the show was quite enjoyable.

R. Kelly opened the show (if you know me, you already know how much I dislike R. Kelly) – but last night, he won me over. He started off with some of his hits from the 90′s and then performed his current single, “When A Woman Loves.”

The tributes to music legends Anita Baker and Ronald Isley were well done. The artists chosen to perform the songs were diverse and beyond talented. Other performers include Erykah Badu, Ne-Yo, Cee-Lo and Jazmine Sullivan.

My only critique about the show is that there were not a lot of awards of given out. I think I only remember seeing three awards announced (other than the tributes). If only Terrance and Taraji skits were cut to see more of the show…

New Music: R. Kelly “When A Woman Loves”

R. Kelly is back and has a new single titled, “When A Woman Loves.” The song has a very “old school” sound but it just doesn’t win me over. This song will be on Kells upcoming album, Love Letter. He also plans to release two additional albums, Epic and Zodiac soon. One thing is for sure, he is definetly staying busy. Check out the song below and let us know what you think.

This week’s throwback is brought to you by Mr. Robert Sylvester Kelly, better known as R. Kelly. He is well known for a collection of hit singles, but one of my favorites here is “Ignition” remix from his “Chocolate Factory” album released in 2003. Not to tell my age, but I have some good college memories surrounding this song. Let MMIM know of any memories this song may have sparked.
