It’s been a while since we have did a “Throwback” for the week so I felt like it was necessary. The week’s video is from Scarface’s 1996 album “The Untouchable.” “Smile” featured the late Tupac Shakur and gave Scarface much success making the single certified gold.
Okay so it has been sooo long since we have done a Mood of the Week on the site, but for some reason I feel it’s needed. Sooner or later time reveals what is real, and sometimes those truths are not always what you want to hear because you either were naive to what was happening right before your eyes. This eventually can cause you to be in complete shock once everything has come to light. However, these three songs by these iconic rappers in my opinion have a way of taking me to another place and forgetting all the B.S. that has been positioned in my life. Because when I remember that the sky is my limit I begin to smile, because life is too short to focus on the negative. Enjoy these classic pieces. What’s your mood this week?
Retired but retaining an honorary title corresponding to that held immediately before retirement. Emeritus, is Scarface. Scarface is the last of a dying breed.
No force included. Scarface has never put on airs and doesn’t start now. As if he made an album because he really had something to say. Scarface is notorious for his griot abilities: to convey reality clearly, null of falsehoods.
Thus, Scarface is the rapper you listen to if you like “Long Islands” on the rocks. He holds nothing back.
“Can’t Get Right,” “Redemption Song,” and “High Note” are all more than worthy tracks.
“Sold so many records might as well change my name to life,” Scarface spits on “Forgot About Me,” including Hip-Hop ain’t dead addends by Lil Wayne and Bun B.
Real name no gimmicks. Search no further if worn-out from believe you and believe you nots antics of today’s here today gone tomorrow “emcees.”
He spews “I’m tired of you — disrespecting the Great. I am Legend. Ain’t nobody — with ‘Face. My catalogue is timeless.”
I love a song with a message, and these days, that is hard to come by. This is off Scarface’s 9th album, Emeritus, that was released yesterday (December 2). Check it out below.
According to XXL magazine, Scarface has stated that his upcoming album entitled Emeritus will be his last. Scarface has released eight studio albums prior to this project and some of his classic albums include The Last of A Dying Breed and The Diary. Emeritus is slated to be released on December 2nd.
MMIM is looking forward to hearing this album. Also let us know what your favorite Scarface song is.
