I must say that The Cool Kids just know how to keep their fans happy. The crew has released a mixtape titled “Gone Fishing” and according to a press release, this is the “official prelude” to their highly anticipated debut album “When Fish Ride Bicycles.” I am very pleased with this mixtape {being the hot production junky that I am} I feel the overall creativity and arrangement makes this a good product for us to use to keep busy until the release of the debut album.

Here is The Cool Kids new video for “Pennies”. Love this video, and I think this beat is crazy. Their album “When Fish Ride Bicycles” will be out later this year.
The other day I was thinking about this whole retro movement and how a lot of artists are starting to follow suit with this trend. It also did not help that one of the groups who I am sure that we all have seen before The Retro Kidz performed at my homecoming bringing me back to this reality. Living in NY for some time I had seen the Retro Kidz at many parties parlaying in 80′s attire with high top fades and getting the party started wherever they were at LITERALLY..All of them can dance their ass off, but then I started to wonder okay what else do they do?
Well my questions were answered when I saw their video on MTV, entitled New Era, and I learned that this interesting group were actually rappers. While I respect their courage to walk around in 80′s attire and not care about what anyone else thinks there is another group of kids that to me deserves a lot more attention……

These are The Cool Kids, that hail from Chicago. While their style is also unique they don’t wear high top fades and their music in my opinion brings versality. Instead of completely mirroring the past they have added their own style in the mix and it actually sounds good. Currently the Cool Kids are set to go on tour with Q-Tip and they also have a mixtape out entitled That’s Stupid. MMIM wants to know which group of kids you like best? Check out videos below from both groups and speak your mind.

Shame on me for just finding out about The Cool Kids. For those of you, like myself who didn’t know, The Cool Kids is a rap duo of Evan “Chuck Inglish” Ingersoll and Antoine “Mikey Rocks” Reed. They rose to fame after releasing their music via myspace. Rolling Stone has named The Cool Kids as one of the artists to watch for 2008. They also recently toured on the Rock the Bells Festival.
